Larne Poppy Appeal raises almost £19k

The Royal British Legion organised appeal raised £18,829.36.

Praising people for their support, Matthew Mulroy, Larne Poppy Appeal organiser, also explained how the appeal was moving with the times. He said: “ We have seen an increase in contactless payments up from £455 in 2021 to £1410 in 2022.”

Other initiatives in Larne during the Poppy Appeal period included a supermarket bag pack, selling poppy badges and a pop-up shop at Murrayfield.

Matthew added: “A massive thank you to everyone who has supported this year's appeal including the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, Larne; the combined cadet force, Larne High School and Air Cadet Force for a recent donation, along with all the volunteers of this year's appeal.”

Money raised during the appeal is used to provide financial, emotional and social support to those who have served, or are currently serving, in the Armed Forces, and their families.
