World Prematurity Day is a global movement to raise awareness of premature birth and the impact it can have on families.

Over 18,000 babies are born premature or sick in Northern Ireland each year and spend time in the Neo-natal units. For families this is an extremely stressful and anxious time.

TinyLife is the only charity in Northern Ireland for premature babies, and has been a life-line for thousands of affected families over the past 31 years.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Cllr Jim Montgomery said: “The birth of a premature baby is something no-one can prepare for and it causes huge worry and stress for parents and their wider families.

“TinyLife provide crucial support for so many families and rely heavily on public fundraising. I would urge the community to get behind this campaign and support the vital work carried out by TinyLife.”
