Phoebe's Christmas Appeal: Carrickfergus teen hoping to bring festive cheer to care home residents

A kind-hearted Carrickfergus teenager is once more on a mission to bring festive cheer to residents in local care homes.

Last year, Phoebe Cullen compiled Christmas gift bags for older people after appealing on social media for donations of new or unused items.

The generous response allowed Phoebe to drop off presents for elderly residents at three homes and one fold.

This year, she’s hoping to reach even more.

“When we were doing this [last year], we found out that a lot of people don’t have close family that come visit them,” the 15-year-old said. “For some, the present that I was giving them was the only one that they were getting to open on Christmas, which I think is heart-breaking.

"This year, we aim to do more homes and make it even bigger and better.”

Visit Phoebe’s Christmas Appeal for more information on how to contribute and the type of items needed.

Donations can also be left at Carrickfergus Urban Farm and Garden Centre.
