Phoebe's Christmas Appeal: Carrickfergus teen hoping to bring festive cheer to care home residents for third year running
A Carrickfergus teenager is once more on a mission to bring festive cheer to residents in local care homes.
For the last two years, Phoebe Cullen has compiled Christmas gift bags for older people after appealing on social media for donations of new or unused items.
The generous response allowed Phoebe to provide presents for 100 elderly residents in 2024, and 450 in 2025.
This year, she's hoping to reach more people than ever before.

Donations of items such as sprays/deodorants; puzzle books/colouring books; felt tips/pens; biscuits; chocolates; sweets; tissues; toiletries/shower gels, and gloves or hats are sought.
Drop off points for donations include Carrickfergus Urban Farm and Garden Centre; the office of Cheryl Brownlee MLA, About Face beauty salon, and Simply Pizza.
More information is available on the Facebook page Phoebe’s Christmas Appeal.
The deadline for donations is November 28.
Explaining the inspiration behind the festive mission, Phoebe (15) said: “My great-Granda always told me if I can be anything in life, be kind.”
