The hunt is still on for the mystery couple captured in a photo of a Portrush sunset – but there’s a new clue!

Coleraine photographer Danielle Murphy of DMPhotography NI took the photograph at Ramore Head in Portrush, on Saturday, May 25.

Now she has released a closer shot of the gentleman in the hope that someone recognises him.

The tranquil scene had been posted on the social media in a bid to connect the couple with the beautiful sunset shot they are starring in – without even knowing it!

Saturday, May 25, was the date for the annual fundraising event for the RNLI, the Portrush Raft Race, which regularly attracts thousands of visitors to the north coast.

This means that the pair in the picture could be from anywhere in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland...or even further afield! Who knows?
