Police welcome community partners at Meet the Teams event in Coleraine

Police in Causeway Coast and Glens District recently welcomed community partners to a ‘Meet the Teams’ event at Coleraine Police Station.

The event, held on October 16, gave representatives from local organisations the opportunity to meet their local Neighbourhood Policing Team officers, sergeants, inspectors and members of the Senior Leadership Team.

It follows an increase in the number of officers within Neighbourhood Policing Teams across the district, supporting a greater visible presence and more opportunities for officers to listen to and address the concerns of local communities.

Those in attendance heard about the role of Neighbourhood Policing Teams, the local policing priorities and the importance of effective partnership working in tackling the issues that matter most to communities.

District Commander Superintendent Yvonne McManus said: “Neighbourhood policing is about being visible, accessible and connected to the communities we serve. This event gave our partners an opportunity to meet the officers working in their area, understand our priorities and speak directly about the issues affecting their communities.

“Our strengthened Neighbourhood Policing Teams will continue to engage proactively with residents, community representatives and partner organisations. Listening to concerns and working together is central to preventing crime, protecting people and building safer communities.

“The event has received positive feedback from those who attended. Partners described it as an informative and beneficial opportunity to put faces to names, strengthen working relationships and identify clear points of contact within local policing teams.

District Commander Superintendent McManus said it is planned to make the event an annual opportunity for engagement.
