The retailer is recalling its Taste the Difference Spanish Chorizo Iberico Ring 200g with the date codes of November 23, 2023 up to and including January 16, 2024 because listeria monocytogenes has been found in some of the products.
Symptoms caused by listeria can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.
Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.
The product recall notice states: “Sainsbury’s is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
Anyone who has bought any of the product is urged not to eat it but to return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For more information go to Sainsburys.co.uk/help or contact their Careline on 0800 028 8303.
No other Sainsbury’s products are known to be affected.
