Tragedy for NI family as young mother dies in Ibiza

Amy Connor from the Coleraine area is understood to have been staying in San Antonio on the island’s west coast with her sister and another friend.

In a heart-rending social media message on Friday, Amy’s friend Alison Blair said: “We went to Ibiza as three and left as two...we were like two peas in a pod you and I.. still numb from the fact I’ll not be able to see your smile again and hear that voice when you’re arriving for a family party or a night out. Until we meet again Amy Connor I’ll miss you.”

Amy’s mum Carol McKibben posted a photograph of her daughter on Facebook with the simple message: “My baby girl.”

In response to the grieving mother’s message, one friend said: “I knew Amy as a wee teenager who used to come into my place of work at the time in Coleraine and she was always such a wee ball of energy...God bless you all at this sad time.”

Another said: “How sad, she had so much going for her.”

Amy’s sister Toni posted a photograph of the pair together on holiday with the message: “I don’t understand how life just goes on...”

A second message from Toni simply said: “I love you”.

It has been reported that police were called to the Ibiza Rocks hotel in San Antonio on Thursday where Amy’s body was discovered, and that there were no indications of a crime having taken place.

Also on Facebook, the deputy master, officers and brethren of Drumaheagles LOL 1099 said they wished to “express  sincerest sympathies on the sudden passing of Amy Connor... niece of Bro Mark Blair, cousin of Bro Aaron Blair, relative of Bro Jamie-Lee

Blair and our WM, Wor Bro Arnie Blair. Safe in the arms of Jesus.”

A family notice on the Funeral Times website reads: “Connor - 11 June 1997 - 20 August 2020 (suddenly), Amy, Loving daughter of Arthur Connor and Carol McKibbin, mother to Kaliyah Connor and loving sister to Aaron John, Jean and Toni Connor and the entire family circle.

“Funeral arrangements to follow. Very deeply regretted by her sorrowing family and entire family circle.”
