Tributes to pupil with ‘bubbly personality’ after ‘unexpected’ death of 12-year-old NI boy

Hundreds of young people have flooded social media with tributes after the unexpected death of a 12-year-old NI boy.

Luke Lawson, from Bleary, Craigavon died at home on Saturday.

The son of Barry and Leanne Lawson, Luke is also mourned by his sister Emma and brother Corey as well as his grandparents and family circle.

A pupil at Lismore Comprehensive School in Craigavon, Luke was popular and highly thought off student.

The school paid tribute to Luke on Facebook.

“We are saddened to learn of the tragic and untimely death of our Year 8 student Luke Lawson.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lawson family and extended family circle at this time.

“Luke was a valued member of the Lismore community and his smile and bubbly personality will be missed by us all. May he Rest in Peace.”

St. John the Baptist’s College in Portadown added: “Deepest sympathies to this child’s family and all in Lismore Comprehensive School- this is very tragic news. We will keep you all in our prayers.”

One person, writing on Facebook, said: “A beautiful young man with the most lovely smile personality and manners. He always had a smile on his face and a cheery greeting any time he passed me in the corridor. My sincerest condolences to his family. May he Rest in Eternal Peace in the arms of Jesus.”

Another said: “I’m absolutely heartbroken. Luke Lawson, you made me smile every time to came to see me. Kind, caring and a personality to match. My heartfelt sincere condolences to your family, relatives and friends.”

A third mourner said; “Luke was a beautiful boy with a big personality. He was the life and soul of his class. He will be sorely missed. May his family gain the strength to get through this very tragic and difficult time.”

Meanwhile Moira Youth FC said: “We were devastated to learn today of the tragic death of Moira Youth player Luke Lawson. Luke always played with a smile on his face and will be remembered for his positive attitude by all the team mates and coaches who had the privelege to know him.

“Moira Youth FC would like to offer the Lawson family our full support at this incredibly difficult time.”

Rathfriland Football Club Youth added: “Such terrible news. The thoughts and prayers of all at Rathfriland FC Youth are with the family and your club.”

A death notice said that Luke died unexpectedly at home, 44 Markville, Bleary on June 27.

He is the precious son of Barry and Leanne, loving brother of Emma and Corey and a much loved grandson of Patricia and Harry Lagan and Kay Lawson.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
