Wife of popular NI publican dies a week after his funeral

The heartbroken family of Anne McCann, wife of popular publican Paddy McCann, have announced her death just a week after his funeral.

Mrs McCann died today, just nine days after her husband Paddy, who had owned the Cellar Bar in Lurgan for decades.

In a notice on The Cellar Bar’s Facebook page, the family said: “It is with broken hearts that the McCann Family of The Cellar Bar Lurgan announce the death of our dear mother Anne Gertrude McCann (née Creaney).

“Mum was a quiet, gentle, kind and loving wife and mother. Our mother had the biggest heart and soul, a true lady.

“Anne will be sadly missed by her children Jim, Paula, Mairead, Lesa, Gregory and Trevor, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, sons and daughters in law and all the family circle.

“Thank you all for your sincere & kind messages of support at this difficult time.

“Our Lady of Medjugorje pray for our mother Anne. Lesa and The McCann Family.”
