Mid and East Antrim Council clarifies Larne Town Park tennis courts closed season
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has been asked if it would be possible to re-open the tennis courts at Larne Town Park.
The public question was read at a recent meeting of the council, noting that the courts have been closed since September 1.

Interim chief executive Valerie Watts said that the tennis courts at the Town Park are provided free of charge during the summer season, from May until August.
"The closure of the courts at the end of the summer season is therefore normal operational practice, The seasonal approach reflects the age and condition of the courts and the impact of autumn and winter weather on the playing surface,” she explained.
“The courts are affected by underlying drainage issues which can result in damp and slippery conditions, particularly during periods of wet weather, As a result, user safety becomes a significant consideration outside the summer months and consequently, it is not considered safe or practical to re-open the courts during the autumn.”
