£12 million Fort George application welcomed

An application for a £12 million Northern Ireland Science Park at Fort George, Londonderry and Letterkenny has been recommended for approval by the Special EU Programmes Body Steering Committee.

The next stage in the process is receipt of Ministerial approval by the Department of Finance and Personnel and the Irish Republic’s Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Investment.

Minister McCausland said: “I welcome the positive steps regarding the Science Park proposals at Fort George. The Northern Ireland Science Park will help to lead the way in the development of high quality technology and knowledge-based businesses in Londonderry. It will also help to create much needed jobs for the City in line with the Regeneration Plan.

“My Department will continue to work closely with Ilex and the Northern Ireland Science Park in order to progress this project.”
