Road Safety competition winners

The winners of the annual Antrim District Road Safety competition have been announced.

The annual competition organised by local road safety committee saw a fantastic response from local schools.

Councillor Drew Ritchie, committee secretary, said: “Road safety continues to be an issue the public have serious concerns around and local schools continue to ensure children are taught its importance from an early age.

“Members are always impressed by the understanding children display at an early age.

“I know teachers, parents, PSNI and DOE will continue to ensure children of all ages are made aware of the challenges on our roads.

“This year we had close to 300 entries and the standard once again was excellent.”

Prizewinners

Class F (under 6years): 1st Grace Girvin, Antrim Primary School; 2nd Coddy Rooke, Round Tower Integrated Primary; 3rd Tegan McKeown- Antrim Primary School. Highly commended Dylan Doherty, Round Tower Integrated Primary.

Class E (6-7years): 1st Elsa Price, Antrim Primary School; 2nd Jacob Neill, Antrim Primary School; 3rd Sophie Doherty, Antrim Primary School. Highly commended Georgia Wilson, Antrim Primary School.

Class D (8-9) years: 1st Catlin Mc Nicholl, Crumlin Integrated Primary; 2nd Beth Thompson, Greystone Primary; 3rd Amy Leigh Jenkins, Greystone Primary. Highly commended Harrison Thomas-Bell- Greystone Primary.

Class C (10-11 years): 1st Amber Thompson; 2nd Keplng li; 3rd Louise Allen. Highly commended Jodie Moore-Montgomery. All attend Round Tower integrated Primary School.

Class B (11-16 years): 1st Charlotte Braithwaite, Parkhall Integrated College; 2nd Leigh Quinn, St Benedict’s College; 3rd- Maggie Chan, Parkhall Integrated College. Highly commended Daniella Madden, St Benedict’s College.
