Road schemes welcomed

COOKSTOWN SDLP Councillor, Christine McFlynn has welcomed confirmation from Roads Service that a number of improvement schemes will progress despite the difficulties imposed by budget cuts.

Cllr McFlynn said she welcomed confirmation from Roads Service that the Drummullan safer routes to school scheme and the introduction of ‘cat’s eyes’ at the Loup crossroads are to progress.

“The difficulties imposed by pressures on the budget have meant that some schemes have been delayed, but I am pleased that these local schemes have not been affected,” she said.

And Cllr McFlynn added: “I would also urge everyone to respond to the public consultation on the route of the Cookstown by-pass. This is a major roads project and its impact will be felt by all in the area.

“I will continue to lobby for road improvement schemes, such as the extension of the speed limit along the Ballyneil Road.

“Even though finances may be tight it is important that the priority that is the safety of residents and all road users on our rural roads is not neglected.”
