A Santa’s grotto has been held in Ahead In Sheds since November and finished this week, with all the money raised going to the TinyLife charity.

Owner Chris Lewis told the Ulster Star that the grotto is going to be an annual event to raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charity of each year.

He said: “We are going to run this every year to support the Mayor’s chosen charity of that year. I thought to myself that I would give the showroom to use as a Santa’s grotto, with all the proceeds going towards the Tinylife charity.

“It has been an incredible success. On Sunday we had over 100 kids coming to see Santa and it has been very busy since it started back in November. We also opened our doors to Largymore Primary School and they brought the pupils in and they really enjoyed it.

“The grotto is something different. There is a bell to ring which alerts an elf and it we had a snow machine as well.

“Tinylife is a charity that means a lot to me, I know a few people who have benefitted from their services and when my 84-year-old father was born he weighed under two pounds.

“My mum and dad have both been up and are pleased money is being raised for such a good cause. We are looking forward to doing this every year and raising money for good causes.”
