St Patrick's Day traffic and travel: PSNI warn of delays due to AOH parades

The PSNI has warned of some traffic disruption on St Patrick's Day with the Hibernians planning parades in Dungiven and Feeny.

Across the area, a number of ‘feeder parades’ before and after the Ancient Order of Hibernians demonstration in Aughnacloy will take place.

In Dungiven, St Canice’s AOH will take part in feeder parades at about 10.40am and again at 7pm.

In Rasharkin there will be parades by Gortighey AOH at 10.15am; Rossnashane AOH at 10.45; and Sons of Ireland Flute Band at 10.45.

The three organisations will have return parades in Kilrea between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Sons of Ireland Flute Band will also parade in Rasharkin at 7.30pm. There will also be parades in Feeny at 11am and again at 6.30pm. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

Large crowds are also expected for St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Portstewart. Motorists are advised to allow extra time and to take extra care when encountering pedestrians. In Coleraine, Ulster Protestant Boys Flute Band will host a parade that will assemble at Killowen Orange Hall at about 8pm. At least 50 bands are expected to attend and the parade will commence at 8.30pm.
