Storey attends official opening of Ballymoney Foodbank

North Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey has attended the opening of Ballymoney Foodbank.

The Foodbank works by having all food donated from places like schools, churches, businesses, individuals, or through supermarket collections. Professionals from statutory and voluntary organisations identify people in crisis and issue them with a Foodbank voucher. Clients bring their voucher to a Foodbank centre where it can be exchanged for three days supply of emergency food.

Mervyn commented: “This facility provides a vital service. Unfortunately we are living in very difficult economic times. There are families in our community who need this type of help. I commend the people who are volunteering at the Foodbank, and everyone within our community that is donating to it. I look forward to working with all those involved in this worthy cause.
