Storey urges community to respond to consultation on the future of the Roddens

North Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey is calling on the public to show their support for the future of the Roddens Residential Home by completing the Department of Health consultation form.

The Roddens Residential Home has been under threat of closure since April 2013 when the Northern Health and Social Care Trust’s paper on the Future of Residential Care Services proposed that all nine care homes in the trust area, including the Roddens, should close by 2018.

The Health Minister Edwin Poots halted this consultation process in May 2013.

Mervyn said: “The Roddens is a cherished and invaluable facility within our town. It has provided care and support to countless numbers of residents over the past four decades.

“The Minister is listening, and I want to ensure that we get the message out that Ballymoney should not lose the Roddens Care Home.

“Therefore, I am urging in the strongest possible terms that everyone within our community, and beyond, completes a consultation form. My office can provide these, as well as help filling them out. We will also ensure they are delivered on time on your behalf.”

The deadline for submissions is 7 March 2014.
