A FORMER recreational swimmer has willed £24k to Derry City Council in gratitude for the kindness and attention shown by the staff at Londonderry’s Templemore Sports Complex.

Derry City Council’s Development Committee was due to decide on whether or not to lodge the money to the local authority’s repair and renewal fund at a meeting as the Sentinel went to press yesterday.

According to the Acting Town Clerk’s report to the committee a cheque in the sum of £24,221.76 was received from Thomas Doherty and Co. Solicitors from the Estate of the former user of Templemore Sports Complex.
