Police warning over vehicles ‘parked on footpaths’ in Cormorant Park, Tern Crescent and Gannet Way areas of Carrickfergus
Officers from Carrickfergus Neighbourhood Policing Team have warned that they may issue a fixed penalty notice if vehicles continue to obstruct foothpaths along a number of streets off North Road.
Officers conducted a leaflet drop in the Cormorant Park, Tern Crescent and Gannet Way areas on Wednesday, September 9.
This was in response to “complaints received regarding vehicles parked on the footpaths to such an extent that the entire footpath is blocked”.
The leaflet reads: “Your vehicle is parked in a manner which is likely to obstruct pedestrians, forcing them out into the road. If police note this vehicle obstructing the footpath again, they may issue a fixed penalty notice and in some cases the vehicle may be removed at the owner's expense.

"Please show consideration for other road users by making sure you park your vehicle in a manner which leaves enough room for pedestrians, particularly the elderly, pram and wheelchair users and those with sight loss.”
A police spokesperson added: “If you found one of the leaflets on your vehicle then please read the information and move your vehicle to allow access to pedestrians.”
