Two men to stand trial over major cannabis factory near Magherafelt

Two men are to stand trial in connection with a massive £400,000 cannabis factory near Knockloughrim, Magherafelt.

Rui Ding (41), of Carricknakielt Lane, Knockloughrim, and Liang Sheng Wu (50), of no fixed address, are accused of cultivating cannabis plants at Carricknakielt Lane on May 12 last year.

Wu is also charged with cultivating cannabis plants at Drumfad Road, Millisle, on December 12, 2014, and at Mullanmore Road, Carrickmore, on September 17 2014.

District Judge Bernie Kelly refused an application for bail in respect of the men as they were both stated to be illegal immigrants.

She returned the pair, in custody, to Londonderry Crown Court for arraignment on February 16 when they appeared at Magherafelt Magistrates Court today.
