Two teenagers arrested for burglary and possession of an offensive weapon

Police in Newtownabbey arrested two suspected burglars during the early hours of Thursday morning (August 4) following a call from a resident in the Cherrylands area reporting suspicious activity.

Officers attended and arrested the two suspects, aged 16 and 18, for burglary and other offences including possession of an offensive weapon, possession od Class B drugs and breach of bail.

Detective Sergeant Emme Wallace said: “We are grateful for the quick reporting of the Cherrylands resident and will be making further enquiries about this incident and a report earlier in the night from a person in the Monkstown area who saw two males checking doors of homes in the area - it is believed they were travelling in a black Renault Megane.
