All at sea talkin Museum

TOMORROW (Thursday, March 28) Dr Anne McVeigh will provide a fascinating view of the wide range of sea-related documents available in the Public Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) in a lecture at the Tower Museum.

‘All at Sea’ is the first of Derry City Council’s Heritage and Museum’s Lunchtime Lecture Series.

Bernadette Walsh, Archivist with the Heritage and Museum Service said: “Dr Anne McVeigh, author and experienced presenter on the topic of migration and tracing genealogy of migrants will deliver an interesting accord of the unique role that the NI Public Record Office has in acquiring and preserving the records of individuals, businesses and societies, which differs to other public record offices which are required to document only government records.

“Concentrating on the Sea records from the 1600’s this will be of relevance to anyone with an interest in the migration history of the masses who left the Island over hundreds of years, or those in the role of document preservation.”

Registration for the event is necessary and can be done by contacting the Tower Museum at Tel: 028 7137 2411 or [email protected]
