The free event will take place between 3pm and 4pm.

The National Homebrew Club is a group of passionate brewers formed in 2011 through a mutual love of homemade ales.

As well as learning the basics of the art of homebrewing, there will be samples for people to try and plenty of information available for anyone thinking of starting to brew at home.

Homebrewing is the art of brewing your own alcoholic drink, in this case, beer.

Art is the operative word here as this craft relies upon an experimental mind, a drive to find that perfect combination of ingredients.

The choice of malted ingredients, fruit extracts and even water can combine in thousands of unique tastes, whether you’re making a pint of bitter, stout, wheat beer or any of the other varieties in between.

“Homebrewing has recently experienced a revival in Ireland and thanks to the internet and increasing availability of good ingredients, the days of homebrewing being associated with cheap booze for students are long gone.

“Here in Derry our homebrewing club is growing in strength and we’re looking forward to sharing knowledge and advice (as well as brews!) with other homebrewers in the city,” said Thomas Carroll, Brewery Liaison Officer

Northern Irish homebrew store www.geterbrewed.com have donated some freebies for people to enjoy on the day.

Anyone interested should come along on Saturday to the Verbal Arts Centre, Bishop Street at 3pm sharp.

This event is being supported by Voluntary Arts Ireland & the Verbal Arts Centre’s Our City of Culture initiative – giving the public a platform to put on creative performances and events. This initiative is funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
