Used drugs to deal with trauma local magistrates court is told

When a search was carried out at the home of a 30-year-old man, a quantity of herbal cannabis was found in his bedroom.

Sean McConville, Cranny Terrace, Bleary, admitted unlawful possession of a class B drug when he appeared last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

He was fined £200 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that the search was carried out on February 26 this year at Cranny Terrace and the value of the cannabis found in the bedroom was £40.

A barrister representing McConville said he has had some tragedy in his personal life and had been involved in a serious road accident.

He added that the defendant turned to illicit substances to deal with the trauma.

The lawyer explained that McConville had been to the community addictions team and was engaging with his GP.
