UUP and SDLP to lead incoming council with Trevor Wilson and Sharon McAleer in top chairs

Prior to the meeting, nominations for chair and vice chair thrust Cookstown’s Trevor Wilson into pole position to be the incoming chair.

And in the SDLP camp Sharon McAleer from Clogher Valley had all-party support for the role of vice chair.

The pair were elected to their new roles at the council’s AGM last night (Tuesday).

Cllr Tony Quinn said: “We as a group were very happy to nominate her for the council for the incoming year.”

Sinn Fein’s Cathal Mallaghan, who took up the position of chair when Linda Dillon was elected to the Assembly, and the DUP’s Kim Ashton will now make way for the council’s two new leaders.
