Victor and Thelma celebrate 25 years

Victor and Thelma Haslett were presented with a gift from the Mayor Cllr John Finlay after 14 years with the Ballymoney branch.

Victor explained: “Throughout the past 25 years in the Salvation Army we have been in the Songsters at Belfast Sydenham Corps, where we also worked with the young people. Later we were appointed as Divisional Envoys, ministering throughout Northern Ireland and in the Republic of Ireland, Co. Longford, where we conducted a special weekend.

“At this time we were responsible for Leadership at Belfast West, and Thelma was Assistant Centre Manager at Glen Alva Family Centre for homeless families. During the past four and half years it has been a privilege to be reponsible for the Leadership of Ballymoney Corp. S.A. and to work together in the Ballymoney Borough with a community who have become great friends and wonderful supporters to us.

“We wish to thank the members of the Ballymoney Borough Council, also Mr. Liam Beckett, St. Vincent de Paul and so many other contributors who have assisted us in so many ways in our ministry and community outreach - also to Ballymoney Times and The Chronicle - we thank you.

“As we have retired from the responsibilities of leadership and administration, we hope to continue with our Gospel ministry as and where we are needed. May the Lord richly bless you all.”
