News that giant spiders were sneaking into homes across Mid Ulster in search of warmth and a mate had the hackles standing on the back of many a neck.

House spiders are descending on Mid Ulster homes as they go in search of a mate

Some of you thanked us for the need to check under the covers every night before creeping into bed - our pleasure.

Others relished the challenge of snapping and sending in pictures of some of the biggest (and fangiest) in their homes.

So here’s some of the most impressive.

Common folklore suggests everyone swallows around 10 spiders through life while they sleep.

With some of these beasts measuring up to 12cm in length, we think your gym instructor would approve of this extra source of protein.
