Inspiration for the concerts came from local talented lady, Denise Rosborough, Creative Director of the North Coast based Barazina Youth Choir.

Denise said: “It is great to see the excitement of all the children about being involved in this special event with the African Children’s Choir in the Millennium Forum. I travel around all the different schools and there’s a great buzz.”

The former teacher added: “The songs are very lively and energetic and we are all really looking forward to performing together. We are also launching the exciting new Barazina CD, with our own songs and lively performances which will act as a great resource for others. It promises to be two unforgettable nights in the Maiden City.”

Barazina Youth Choir was launched in September 2011 and currently 75 young people from over 30 different schools, (aged 4-14) (including Barazina Mini Choir), rehearse weekly in the North Coast Area.

After stealing the hearts of the world during their uplifting performance of the number one single ‘Sing’ with Gary Barlow at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the Grammy nominated African Children’s Choir are back in Northern Ireland to display their inspirational talents, this time in conjunction with local school children being given a chance to shine on the big stage.

The first African Children’s Choir was formed in 1984 of orphans from a civil war in Uganda. Fund-raising concerts in American churches led to donations that supported the education and other needs of poor and orphaned children in growing number of African countries.
