Christmas is all about family, friends and fellowship, Upper Bann MLA Jo-Anne Dobson has said.

In her seasonal message she said: “In the build up to Christmas I have had the privilege of joining so many community and voluntary groups who are making a real difference to people’s lives. People who, often quietly and unsung, are putting others before themselves, showing warmth and human kindness at Christmas.

“They are spreading the real meaning of Christmas and are richly deserving of our admiration and praise.

“In our busy lives we must never lose sight of God’s love, shown to us through Jesus. Christians across the world uniting in celebration of the birth of Jesus and God’s promise of peace, hope and love for all.

“With peace in mind, I would like to thank the brave service women and men of Her Majesty’s Forces who are helping to bring peace here and around the world, spending Christmas thousands of miles from their families and friends. And the dedicated men and women of our emergency services, who work so hard to help those in need, are also in my thoughts and prayers.

“My Ulster Unionist colleagues and my family join me in wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.”

Sam Gardiner MLA sent his customary best wishes and season’s greetings to the people within my constituency of Upper Bann this Christmas.

Mr Gardiner said parties at the ongoing negotiations “should put the people first and I use this Christmas opportunity to appeal to them to do just that.”
