Woman attacked in High Street by teenage boy

A woman has been attacked in broad daylight in Lurgan by a teenage boy.

The woman was stalked by the teenager for some distance before he attacked her from behind in the High Street area.

The 26-year-old woman was walking her black and tan Jack Russell along Millennium Way onto Union Street on Wednesday July 24 at around 9.30pm.

According to the PSNI on Union St, the girl was approached by a male teenager who engaged her in conversation.

“Following this the female walked on to High Street and continued in the direction of Avenue Road. The male was walking a short distance behind her throughout her route.

“Approximately 50m prior to the junction at Malcolm Road the teenager grabbed the female from behind and attempted to force her to the ground. The female struggled and screamed and the male ran off,” said the police.

He is described as being about 16 years old, 5ft 10in tall, of slim build with medium length, brown hair which was flat at the top. He was wearing dark coloured tracksuit bottoms with two white stripes at the side and a charcoal grey zip up tracksuit top with a grey hood. He spoke with a local accent.

Police are currently studying cctv footage and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault or has information in relation to it to contact them at Lurgan Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
