Young person dies on north coast after report of group of swimmers in trouble

A young person has died in an incident which drew a string of emergency responders to the Dunluce area of the north coast this evening.

Few details are known about the incident, but it is believed that the deceased was aged under 20.

Rescue boats and a helicopter from Scotland were all summoned after a report that swimmers were in trouble.

It is believed the incident involved four people – one is dead, one is injured, but the other two are said to have escaped serious harm.

The fatal victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services were called at around 5pm, but news of the incident is only now emerging.
