At the foot of the table, Tir na nOg - who are still waiting on their first win - sit just below Killeavey, third-from-bottom St Paul’s - who have been forced to play without their County pairing of Andrew Murnan and Phelim O’Neill, although it is believed that Murnan is carrying an injury.

Carrickcruppin are another side who are under the threat of relegation, they are fourth from bottom just below Annaghmore and Forkhill, with the latter side behind mid-table Wolfe Tones and have six points on the board from five games played to date.

Meanwhile in Division Two, Clann Eireann lead the pack and are unbeaten after five games - although the Lake Street side lost to Madden in the Championship they would still be one of the sides fancied to win honours this season.

At the foot of the second flight, Clan na Gael have just two points from five games played but Eire Og and St Peter’s are in slightly better form with two points apiece.

ST MARY’S

St Mary’s Aghagallon met St Mary’s Rasharkin with both sides level at the final whistle on a 0-9 to 1-6 draw.

Kevin Lamont slithered through the defence to score a great goal for the Aghagallon men approaching half-time.

The sides entered the break on level terms and the second half proved tight, with both teams scoring impressive points in blustery conditions.

Garry McKenna, Joe McAlinden and Conor Mallon proved the pick of the field for the Aghagallon outfit.

DRAW

The draw for the next round of the Intermediate Championship has given local sides every opportunity of sustaining a run.

St Peter’s replay win over Culloville last Sunday has handed the side a fixture against An Port Mor, which realistically the North Street side would be capable of winning,

Although Clan na Gael finished disappointed at having lost their Championship opener, the next game in the qualifiers is against either Middletown or Silverbridge.

Clann Eireann, who lost narrowly last week against Madden, will be fancied to overcome Collegeland next time out and Eire Og, should they overcome Keady, would have a favourites’ chance of getting a result against Dorsey Emmetts.

The next round of games in the Intermediate series will take place over the weekend of August 14, 15 and 16.

YOUTH

Eire Og recently staged a tournament for under 14s - with six clubs on board across the youth schedule.

Entertaining football featured on the day, with Clan na Gael the winners over Sarsfields.

The other sides were St Paul’s, Tullysaran, Tullylish and the hosts.

Kevin Larkin, Steven Fegan, Paddy Mallon and Ciaran McGeown played key roles in organising on behalf of Eire Og.
