Armoy Wasps set to play their inaugural match this weekend

The under 12 section of Armoy RFC's newly formed mini rugby section the Armoy Wasps are set to play their inaugural match this coming Sunday 21st February. This is a milestone for the club - Firstly it will be the first match since mini rugby was introduced in August 2015 and secondly it will be played at Ulster Rugby headquarters - The Kingspan Stadium.

The 10 minute match will take place during the nterval between Ulster v Scarlets and understandably this has created a ‘buzz’ among the young Wasps players, coaches and parents who will all travel en-mass to watch the first Armoy team to grace the hallowed turf of Ravenhill since the 1980’s when the adult team played in the Harden cup final.

The under 12 team have put in extra training on Tuesday evenings in an effort to put a bit of extra polish on their skills. They have been guided by coach Enda Casey and his assistants Tony Breen and Barry Kelly who will run out onto the pitch with them in front of an expected crowd of 16000.

Everyone associated with Armoy RFC wishes the Wasps well for their first match and we hope that above all the kids enjoy their day in the limelight.
