BANN Valley's Elle Forrest has been selected for the Cycling Ulster Ladies team for the 2010 Rás Dhun na nGall stage race.

The 3 day, 4 stage race will take to the roads around Killybegs, Donegal over the June bank holiday weekend.

The 54m final stage on Sunday takes in the famous Glengesh Pass, one of the toughest climbs in Ireland. Rs Dhun na nGall is one of the hardest stage races in Irish cycling and will be a great challenge for riders to even finish.

The Cycling Ulster ladies team along with Elle, are Heather Wilson (Maryland), Kay Hack (Bann Wheelers), Tonya Moran (Phoenix), Mandy Collie (Orchard Wheelers).

Meanwhile, it's well done to Martin Robb and Gerry McCullagh for their placings in the Carn Wheelers race last Wednesday, on a hard night. Martin was second and Gerry led home the chasing bunch. This provided another good showing for BVRC.

In this week's AWT Refrigeration-sponsored mile time trial, the times were again suppressed due to the seemingly incessant Northerly wind making the out leg very difficult.

The winner was Stephen Workman BRC 24.04l , closely followed by Martin Tohill Spires CC 24.10, with the ride of the night going to Bann Valley's Dean McElfatrick who turned up late and rode the ten without so much as a pedal stroke of a warm up.

Dean posted a time of 25 minutes and15 seconds to take third place from club mate Martin Robb who had a time of 25.32. Martin also deserves a mention for a PB ride in a Ballymena Road Club ten at Woodgreen recently.
