Busy few months coming up for dedicated Eglinton's Cooke

Young Eglinton boxer Ben Cooke has claimed two titles in just a few weeks.

The 11-year-old, who boxes out of Eglinton ABC won the Derry and District Championship with victory over Thomas Brolly from Swatragh in the final.

Most recently Ben claimed the 9 counties title boy 1 at 36kg, when he defeated boxers from Derry, Donegal and Guy Wallace from County Down, in the final with a TKO in the first round.

Eglinton head coach Robert Whiteside added the next couple of months could be busy for Ben with the North West Zones, Ulster and Irish titles all up for for grabs.

“Ben has been boxing since the age of 7, he’s dedicated and trains hard a credit to the club,” said Whiteside.

Eglinton boxing club train Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 7.30pm.
