Coach Rory Duddy told Times Sport that Ben has put in a lot of hard work.

“Ben has had a terrific season.

“This is a huge advance on his first year in boxing. He lost his first five contests, but he is proof that if you put hard work in you get rewarded.”

Ben started off his successful year winning the Ulster Novice title in Toomb beating Michael Agnew.

In the nine county championships Ben outpointed both of his opponents in style to win his second title.

Ben can also add the County Derry Championship, the North West Championship and the Ulster title to his victories.

Winning the Ulster title took Ben to Dublin for the National Championships.

Despite being defeated, Ben gained massive experience boxing at the highest level.

Described as a ‘shining beacon’ by his coach, the young boxer was presented with the Christoper Connor Memorial Shield last week. The shield is presented to Coleraine ABC’s Clubman of the Year.

Well done Ben!
