‘C’ team produce their best performance of season so far

The Braid men demolished the visiting team as they claimed 4 good rink wins to claim a maximum 7 points from a 96-39 win.

On rink 1 Leslie Jackson, Robert McCready, Liam Lyness and Wilfie Stewart were in great form against L Crosier.

The visitors scored a single on the first end but the Braid men won the next 8 ends to lead by 13 shots.

The visitors doubled their score on the 10th end but the Ballymena rink won the next 6 ends to increase their lead to 23 shots.

The remainder of the game was closer but there was only ever going to be one winner in this game with the Ballymena men claiming an emphatic 27-5 victory.

The Ballymena rink of Roy Kernohan, Gary Shaw, Andy Hill and Norman Armstrong did not have everything all their own way against D Boucher on rink 2 and with a third of the game completed the home rink found themselves on the wrong side of a 7-2 score line.

The game changed on the next end when the Ballymena men picked up a count of 6 shots to lead for the first time. From then on the Ballymena rink never looked back and over the remainder of the game they outscored the visitors by 13 shots to 7 to claim victory by 21 shots to 14.

Jimmy Shields, Jimmy Gage, William Crawford and Johnny Elliott found the Belfast rink skipped by H Johnston hard to shake off on rink 3. Over the first 18 end this was also a low scoring match with only 21 shots scored during this period.

At this stage of the contest either team could have won the game as the score board read 11-10 in favour of the Ballymena men however Elliotts’s men had saved the best for last and a count of 7 shots on the 19th end was followed by another 4 shots on the 20th end and a single on the final end gave them a slightly flattering 23-10 victory

Willie McNabb, Alan O’Loan, Dessie Shaw and Alex Wilson did not make the best of starts against R McKeaveney on rink 4 and with 7 ends played the visitors led by 8 shots to 3.

The Ballymena men found another gear when they won the next 8 ends to turn a 5 shot deficit in to a 6 shot advantage.

The Braid rink continued to dominate the remainder of the game as they restricted the visitors to just 2 more singles while Wilson’s men accumulated a further 11 shots to win comfortably by 25 shots to 10.
