Carroll secures World seat for Gulf Racing endurance debut

Adam Carroll's career has covered a variety of racing codes but the Portadown-born driver will mark a fourth campaign in Gulf Racing colours with a first World Endurance Championship appearance.

Coaching commitments alongside his competitive pursuits provide Carroll with plenty of air miles but he has found a home within the Gulf Racing family over the past four years and is relishing this latest challenge.

Past highlights for Carroll include IndyCar, GP2, DTM, F3 and a F1 test spot with BAR-Honda. One major triumph arrived in 2009 with success for Team Ireland across the A1GP World Cup.

However, a switch to sportscar and endurance racing in recent seasons has presented opportunities for Carroll in the Blancpain and European Le Mans series under Gulf Racing.

Now he has been confirmed as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship three-man team behind a Porsche 911 RSR for the GTE Am class.

“It has been a busy period but really enjoyable and the WEC (World Endurance Championship) is going to be exciting,” said Carroll from his Portadown home. “We have testing in March then the series opens at Silverstone on April 17.

“We travel to Belgium in May then June offers the 24 Hours Le Mans before Germany the next month.

“September’s schedule has dates in Mexico and America before Japan, China and Bahrain leading up to November.

“I will continue to coach alongside the work as a Gulf Racing pro driver.

“There is a lot of travel between the coaching and racing but it is a nice mix and always interesting.

“This season offers a wonderful chance to really put Gulf Racing on the world stage.”
