Castle Tower pupils enjoy Eaton Park visit

BALLYMENA Rugby Club hosted a fun morning for children and staff from Castle Tower School last week.

The event was organised by Tom Wiggins and Scott Muir who gave the kids the chance to enjoy many fun activities associated with rugby, culminating in a TAG rugby game on the first team pitch.

Jamie Smith from Ulster Rugby and Alan Smith from BRFC also attended and instead of just watching the lads joined in with the kids taking part in all the activities.

It was a highlight for one young girl when she ran past the Ulster full back to touch the ball down for a try.

The kids and staff had a fabulous day with the lovely weather adding to everyone's enjoyment.

After the rugby everyone adjourned to the Clubhouse where the Ladies Committee provided some very welcome drinks followed by sausages and chips for everyone involved.

Club Chairman David Allen was also in attendance. He told the children that he was delighted to see them at the Club enjoying their rugby experience.

David told the kids that he hoped this would only be the first of many visits and that events such as this help bring BRFC into the heart of all local communities. The children were then presented with certificates from Jamie Smith before getting onto the bus and heading back to school.

All in all it was a great day with everyone involved having an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

As the Chairman noted events such as this will become commonplace at the Club where children and adults from all communities are welcome to come and enjoy the facilities on offer and to get involved in their local rugby club.
