Chris braves the shave forHendrie family

Former Glebe Rangers player Christopher Nicholl ‘braved the shave’ at the weekend as he raised money for the family of Chris Hendrie who passed away last October at the age of 30.

Chrissy played football for his local team, Riada FC, and he touched many lives including Chris Nicholl who was his good friend.

“I’m now working in London and was unable to get home for the football match which was held to raise money for Chris’ wife Gillian and his three children. I wanted to do something to contribute because I was good friends with Chris and I’m also close to Gillian and her Dad Ted Carson.

“Gillian is one of the strongest woman I have ever met and despite having to go through something so terrible as losing Chrissy there is always a smile on her face no matter what. She always puts her kiddies first and I wanted to raise the money to take some of the pressure off the Christmas shopping so Gillian can treat her kids to something special.

“Christmas is a tough time of the year both emotionally and financially and shaving off my beard is just a small gesture.”

Nicholl’s generous gesture has left him virtually unrecognisable to his friends and former teammates.

“I thought I would shave the beard off when I came home from London for Christmas. I had been growing it for over two years. It will take some getting used to now that it’s gone but it’s more than worth it.
