Having previously defeated Sarsfields, Maghery and Carrickcruppin in the previous rounds Clans looked forward to the final in the Morgan Athletic Grounds with high expectations.

Granemore could have little complaints as they were beaten by a team that had an array of riches.

The match started sprightly enough and both teams traded early scores however when Diarmaid Marsden rattled the Granemore net for the first Clans goal midway through the first half there was only going to be one winner.

Sean Mackle cut the Granemore defence open shortly after to add a second before the break and Clans led 2-6 to 0-6 at the interval.

The second half saw the Lurgan men turn the screw and with it, limit Granemore to a solitary point.

A further goal from Niall McCann saw the Clans run out convincing winners and bring the Reserve Cup to Davitt Park for the second time in three years.

Best for Clans on the night were Stefan Campbell, leading the charge up front, and Tony Hamill at the back.

Clan na Gael Captain Michael Austin collected the cup on behalf of his team mates and management and squad can be happy with the season’s work.
