Clelland narrowly misses out on a top-ten finish

Seapark Athletic Club’s Ian Clelland narrowly missed out on a top-10 finish at Sunday’s Endurance Junkie Half-Marathon at Titanic Quarter.

Clelland continued his impressive form with a time of 1:24, while Gillian Cordner - and endurance specialist - also finished high up the rankings with a time of 1:33.

Glenda Murray completed her first-ever half-marathon race, finishing strongly in a time of 2:14. Other club times: Colin McCrum, 1:41; Gary Connolly, 1:43; Neill Harper, 1:55; Phil Poag, 1:56. Karen Poag paced Jacqui Coghlan around her first half-marathon. Both finished in 2.03.

In the 10k race, Jonathan Bell and Sara Johnston ran times of 47 minutes and 59 minutes respectively.

Seapark AC is supporting Mid and East Antrim Borough Council in a 10k and kids’ fun run on August 30. The ‘Storming The Castle’ event will include a host of entertainment and food in and around Carrickfergus Castle, supported and sponsored by local businesses. Barn Runners

A Barn Runners quartet of Gareth Shannon, Yvonne McIlree, Julia Birkett and Clare Robertson took part in the Endurance Junkie races in Belfast on Sunday.

Shannon crossed the line in an impressive 01:27:38, followed by McIlree in 01:45:13 and Birkett in 01:53:17. Robertson, who travelled from Scotland for the event, completed the 10k race in 59:58.
