Convincing win for South fifths

SOUTH ANTRIM FIFTHS 6 DOWN SECONDS1

SOUTH Fifths match with Down Seconds was the only men’s game to survive last weekend’s frost.

The Fifths started well and put together some beautiful spells of passing which helped lead up to the first goal. A big hit from the back was collected by Jonny Sykes who played a one-two with Neil Wilson before hitting a well placed shot past the goalie.

The second followed shortly after via a well taken goal by Wilson, slotting into the bottom corner under the keeper’s foot.

Thanks to another great bit of team work, Sykes was in the right place at the right time to get his second and the Fifths third goal when a free from outside the box was played through the defence to Wilson who converted from a tight angle.

After that, the team started to get complacent and gave away a short corner which Down converted. This spurred the home side into action once more and with Down’s legs tiring through relentless substitutions from South, Wilson put the ball through the keepers legs for the fifth goal after missing numerous chances on his reverse.

Shortly after, Aaron McKeown scored his first goal for the club and the teams sixth to rap up a convincing win for the Fifths.
