Craig and Gary at the double as Fours hit Queen's for six

Gary Dean and Craig Kennedy scored two each while David Gallagher and Dave Armstrong were also on target in a result that brought three points that the Fourths badly needed. They remain rock bottom in tenth but now they’re just two points off sixth place in a tightly packed table.

Bann took the game to Queens from the off with Dean and Kennedy causing lots of problems for the Students. Dave Gallagher was sitting deep and controlling the game in the centre of the pitch always being available and moving the ball from flank to flank.

Bann had a man advantage and the out ball to the right hand side through Jack Montgomery and in particular Joel Reid was proving a great attacking option. Reid broke through on the right wing a number of times and sent in some great crosses and pull backs which the Fourths’ front line couldn’t capitalise on.

Bann won a number of corners and worked the Students keeper a number of times but couldn’t break the deadlock. Queen’s were causing occasional problems on the break but the defence of Doran, Montgomery and Martin was being well organised by Callum Gibson and shut out the students.

Other teams could have got frustrated but credit to the Bann team who keep pressing and from the next short corner, Dave Gallagher powered home with a drag down the middle that left the Queen’s keeper with no chance.

This spurred on the home side and it was soon two. James Brown showed some brilliant stick work to leave the Queens midfield in his wake and slipped the ball to Gary Dean who finished easily.

At half time, Bann decided to be a bit more direct and go forward when the opportunity presented itself. The Students were starting to tire and from a quick break, Daniel Colvin gave a great early pass to Matthew Young, who beat a few players and fed Dave Armstrong to make it three with a strong finish from the top of the circle.

Bann were pushing hard and from another sortie into the Queen’s half, Roger Martin saw his chance and beat the Queen’s player to a loose ball on the 22, drove into the circle and slipped a pass to Dean on the left of the circle who finished clinically.

Luke Roleston was working hard up front and from a number of attacks, Corey Large had chances in the circle and won a short corner from one of those. Craig Kennedy stepped up and finished clinically with a neat drag into the roof.

To complete the scoring, Kennedy grabbed his brace with another superb finish from a short corner.

The Fourths now look forward to away league match against Inst Thirds.
