Ben and Jon pave way tovictory for Tigers Under13B

The Lurgan Tigers U13B team travelled to Laurelvale lat Tuesday evening and came away victorious by 22 runs in a very competitive game.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat, captain Ben Hunter and Jon Woods got off to a flying start, adding 33 in the first four overs before Woods was run out for 19, including two fours and a glorious six.

Ben Hunter continued to play well hitting three fours in scoring 28 before being retired. The middle order of Michael Newton, Harry long, Harry Lockhart, Peter Hutchinson and Daniel Kilpatrick all batted well to ensure the Tigers posted a very competitive total of 127.

In reply, Laurelvale lost wickets at regular intervals but good contributions from J Burns, R Chambers and J Grant ensured they pushed the Tigers close, falling short by just 22 runs on 105.

The wickets were shared about among the Tigers bowlers with Jack Turkington and Jon Woods both taking 2 each, while James Wilson, Michael Newton, Harry Long and Harry Lockhart took one apiece.

This was a very encouraging performance by the boys with Joel Davison also showing encouraging signs of development in his first match and Timothy Millen taking a fantastic catch and getting a run out.

They can now look forward to more matches over the summer months.
