Carrickfergus 1st XI captain Iain Parkhill told the club’s website: “We are delighted to have a player of Pat’s undoubted class and experience on board for 2016.

“Pat Botha was the first name given to me back at the beginning of September, and out of the many names I was told about, he was the one I kept coming back to.

“I think this signing is a statement of intent, we are looking to kick on and become a very good Premier League side.

“I would like to give special mention to both Pat and his agent, Rob Humphries of WSX Agency, who have both been a pleasure to deal with throughout.”
