On Saturday it was Holywood who inflicted a 4 wicket defeat as they chased down the required 164 runs set by the Queensway side. Derriaghy captain Craig Lewis decided to bat first on winning the toss and although he hit a breezy 88 himself only Rob Cumins with a quick 27 put up much resistance among the other batsmen as the side only used up 33 of their allotted overs.

The visitors struggled early on as Scott Hughes (2 for 12) and Mark Stinson (2 for 46) put them on the back foot and things got worst at 76 when their professional was run out. However seasoned campaigned Philip McCormick provided the backbone for Holywood sharing in a 70 run partnership for the 6th wicket and then steering his side over the line with a solid 52 not out.

Sunday’s game against Templepatrick was a rearranged T20 affair which the home side will want to forget in a hurry as they sloped to a 95 run defeat. Only Rob Cumins with 4 for 26 and Matty Jennings with 25 runs can take much credit from the game. Templepatrick hit 191 for 8 in their 20 overs and Derriaghy were all out in 15 for a paltry 96.

After recording four wins in their previous five games these defeats see Derriaghy slip to a disappointing joint 6th position in the league. Hopefully the 2015 season will bring more consistency to the team performances.
