Gillespie a thorn in Foxies’ side in convincing victory

The Coleraine game against Eglinton was abandoned after the Bannsiders had scored 225 for five they had Eglinton on six for one when the weather intervened.

There were no such worries for leaders Strabane they travelled to pointless Fox Lodge and won convincingly by nine wickets.

The Foxies scored 222 for eight in their 50 overs with Jason Milligan scoring 121.

However a second-wicket partnership of 157 between Matthew Bentley 87 not out and Peter Gillespie 70 not out saw the Red Caps home.

Brigade moved into second spot after defeating Bready by eight wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Bready scored 242 for nine in their 50 overs with number 10 Ryan Barr top scoring with an unbeaten 40.

The home side were set a target of 120 in 27 overs and an undefeated 58 from Mattie Moran saw them through with 1.5 overs left.

Donemana’s improved form continued when they travelled to Ardmore and won by six wickets.

The home side scored 173 with Adrian Murphy top-scoring with 33, set 137 in 36 overs. The visitors lost four wickets getting there with Ricky Lee Dougherty undefeated with 56.

On Sunday despite the downpours at Bready there were mixed fortunes for the North West Warriors in the T/20 competition.

In their first game against the previously unbeaten Leinster Lightnings the Warriors thanks to 62 from David Rankin and 60 from Stuart Thompson scored 167 for three. The visitors were set a target of 141 off 16 overs following the D/L method but were all out for 110, with young Coleraine spin bowler 
Rishi Chopra taking three wickets.

In their second game against the Northern Knights the Warriors thanks again to a magnificent 73 from David Rankin got off to a flying start however they lost their last six wickets for just 15 runs and were all out for 149.

The visitors lost only two wickets chasing down the 
target.

with former North West player Chris Dougherty top scoring with 58.
