Ireland crash out of T20 World Cup

Ireland suffered a heavy six wicket defeat to Holland this morning, in Sylhet.

Eglinton and Ireland all-rounder Stuart Thompson takes a drink, during today's game against Holland.

After batting first Phil Simmons side, who knew going into the game victory would see them progress to the Super 10 stage, scored an impressive 189 for four, off their 20 overs.

Skipper William Porterfield scored 47, Andrew Poynter hit 57 and Kevin O’Brien was not out on 42, but their total wasn’t enough as the Netherlands batting line-up torn into the Irish bowling.

The big hitting Dutch smashed 19 sixes as they scored 193 off just 13.5 overs to progress to the next stage of the competition ahead of the Irish and Zimbabwe on a superior run rate.

Man of the match Stephan Myburgh scored the second fastest 50 in Twenty20s to launch the Netherlands towards a stunning victory.
